Overview

Immerse Yourself in Making The Summer Institute Scholarship supports Utah high school art teachers in pursuing immersive, hands-on studio experiences during the summer. This opportunity is open to all educators who have participated in the Springville Museum of Art’s Annual All-State High School Show in the last two years. Scholarship recipients will be reimbursed up to $2,500 to cover tuition, housing, food, and transportation costs associated with an intensive studio workshop (preference given to week-long programs). 

Funding for this scholarship generously provided by the Arrieta-Rees Foundation. 

Purpose

This scholarship is designed to make summer workshops more accessible to educators who may not otherwise have the financial means to attend. It aims to: 

  • Support creative rejuvenation 
  • Encourage professional development 
  • Reconnect educators to their own artistic practice 
  • Provide meaningful networking with other artists and educators 

Eligibility

Open to active 9–12 grade art teachers in Utah who had at least one student enter the most recent Annual All-State High School Art Show at the Springville Museum of Art in the last two years. (Eligibility not based on student acceptance to exhibition.) 

Application Requirements 

Applicants must submit a workshop proposal that includes: 

  • Title and Description of the intended workshop or program 
  • A timeline for participation (must be completed by August 10, 2026) 
  • Goals and outcomes related to personal artistic growth 
  • Description of media and materials to be explored 
  • Explanation of how the experience will contribute to your own creative journey 
  • Examples of personal artwork or link to online portfolio.

Expected Outcomes 

  • Documentation of the experience (photos, reflections, etc.) 
  • A short write-up or presentation on the overall impact of the experience to be shared with the Springville Museum of Art and the Arrieta-Rees Foundation. 

Deadline to Apply 

  • Online form opens Saturday, February 21, 2026 
  • Applications close Friday, April 3, 2026 
  • Selected applicant notified by April 17, 2026

Please Note: If none of the submitted proposals align with the overall objectives of the Scholarship (outlined above) in any given application cycle, the selection committee may decide not to award the scholarship that year.
